We’ve got loads of information about how you can easily and affordably make changes every day that will leave you with less waste and more money in your pocket. The Waste Levy (which affects how much you pay for rubbish disposal at transfer stations) is set by the Government for the whole of New Zealand and continues to climb. This means creating less waste makes sense for the environment AND your budget. Check out all our resources in the ‘Waste less living’ section of our website.
There are two transfer stations in the district, both of which are privately owned and operated.

Keeping our district looking its best is a high priority for us. We want to hear about any litter or illegal dumping so that we can get our contractors out quickly to clean it up.
If you are able to provide information on who has dumped the rubbish (e.g. a vehicle registration plate number, date, time and description of the person who has been observed dumping the material, a photo would be best!), we will follow up on this and charge the cost of this work back to the person who illegally dumped the rubbish or fine them for littering.
If you find piles of rubbish dumped anywhere in the district, please report it on our contact us form or call 0800 WAIPADC (924 723) at any time to report it - our phone line is staffed 24/7.
